All the fun of a sassy dame…

My nana gives me her blessing… May 29, 2008

My nana (bless her soul) has been in the other world for over 20 years now… I don’t remember much of her as she passed away when I was still very young… But I do remember her assortment of talents, like making her own version of very delectable peanut ball, she’d make us kids use a bottle to roll on the table and crush peanuts.  Then there was also her cooking skills… etc etc.

In all my life, I’ve only dreamt of her twice… once about 10 years ago and then again now.  I am not one to look and analyze dreams and whatever but this time, I’d really like to believe that she is giving me her blessings for my upcoming wedding.  🙂

It started with me looking at her picture… and then I saw that she was blinking and smiling… so I called her name several times and when she really smiled, I hastily called my mom.  We then proceeded to talk and ask how each other was doing.  I suddenly woke and thought how weird it was.  After a little while, I fell back asleep and there she was again, this time, she was standing in front of me and she was smiling broadly and said that she’s gonna come by ship on my wedding day.  I don’t know the significance of the ship, but again, I’d like to interpret that it means she’s bringing me lots of wealth and happiness.  🙂

Thanks nana!  You’re the best!  🙂

While we’re on the subject, just fyi.  Max & I are gonna get married here in Perth on the 11th of July, incidentally, it’s Max’s birthday.  No we didn’t choose the date, it so happens that’s the date the registry office gave us.  What are the chances hey?  Anyhow, it’s going to be a really close-knit event with only his family present.  We’re reserving the big moment for the ceremony in Philippines.  🙂

Got my car!!! May 18, 2008

What an amazing week!  🙂  There was a couple of small things that I won’t mention here anymore.  But a big thing is I got engaged… and to cap the week off, bought me-self a powerful car.  Powerful car for a powerful lady.  *ehem ehem*  😛

It’s a Mazda 626 2.5L V6 engine, a/t, a/c, p/s, cruise control, central locking and it’s got mags to boot!  🙂  got it pretty cheap too!  🙂

It’s my first purchase of a car so I’m feeling proud of myself.  Absolutely ecstatic!  🙂

The thing now is to keep myself from over-decorating the inside of the car.  😛

I’m engaged! May 15, 2008

I still can’t believe it… 🙂  I’ve waited a lifetime for this moment… and now that it has finally come… I’m… speechless.  😛  It really hits hard and hits home hey?  🙂  All my countless daydreams does not measure up to the real one.  🙂

Let me share with you how it happened…

As mentioned in my previous entries, my bub went away for a few weeks to Bali for a surfing trip, he was away up until after Mother’s Day.  So I thought… why not plan a post-dinner get together to celebrate Mother’s Day with my bub’s mom (And sister, Julia, and her boyfriend, Brett) as well as celebrate his safe homecoming… and also his anniversary at work… and for simply being alive and being together.  🙂  I even made up a very nice e-invitation card and sent it to everyone… even my bub was quite surprised… unknowingly, I created the perfect opportunity for his proposal.  😛

So, on d-day, I was preparing food and stuff and getting myself hyped up and excited all throughout the day… at the same time telling myself to slow down and not get stressed.  I enjoyed myself thoroughly and it has been awhile as well since I’ve seen everybody.  So… the set time came and everyone arrived on time and started chattering away…

Julia wanted to have some soup first so I decided to serve the soup first then rest for a bit before serving up the rest of the dinner.  Max got up and walked away from the table and the next thing I know… he’s got his camera running and he’s in his suit!  So instantly I thought, OH MY!  Is this the moment that I’ve been waiting for?  And then my mind just went blank… ha ha  I suddenly couldn’t comprehend what was happening.  He handed the camera to Julia and then proceeded to make a sweet speech… and then went down on his knees and asked me to marry him.  WHOOOEEE!!!  🙂  Thus far, it’s the happiest moment in my life.  🙂  Nothing compares!  Nothing!

We have talked about marriage and stuff as we needed to because of visa issues… and while he was away, I was actually thinking, I wonder how do I let him know my finger size?  Will we be shopping together for the right ring?  And so on and so forth… but I remember telling him sometime back that “IF” (he he) I’m getting a ring, I want a simple ring that I can wear for everyday that won’t look too much… and he got the perfect one for me!

Having attended numerous weddings of relatives and friends, now, it’s my turn to plan for mine.  🙂

Happy Mom’s Day!!! May 8, 2008

… to the mom’s all over the world!  🙂  I had always thought when I was young that I’d be married and a mom by the age of 25… but alas, it’s not how it was destined to be.  🙂  Anyhow, I’m waiting for my perfect time.  🙂

I reckon my mom is one of the best, if not the best, mom in the world, and she still looks gorgeous too at age 55.  I’ve always thought that she deserves an award for doing a heck of a job being a mom.  It would take too long for me to elaborate just what she does for her kids and family… and would only make my dad look bad.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my dad but he just wasn’t the “dad” figure in the family.  As far back as I can remember, my mom was the one who supported us while we were growing up… and there were 4 of us so you can just imagine how hard it is.  Oh, I guess i have to give my dad credit for the disciplining side.  I would like to think they’ve managed to raise 4 great kids!  😉

Anyhow, Happy Mother’s Day MA!  🙂
